The Boker Kalashnikov automatic knife is one of the most popular side open automatics on the market today considering the price point. The world was first introduced to the traditional size, then the mini, and finally, the BladeOps exclusive Kalashnikov XL. This knife, as well as the rest of the Kalashnikov auto family, is referred to an auto-conversion knife which means the knife is produced as a folder knife and then converted via third party to offer the automatic function. The Kalashnikov XL features an aluminum handle scale with 4 integrated finger grooves for a comfortable ergonomic experience and the AUS-8 blade material offers better edge retention than you would expect. This particular model features a black handle with standard black hardware, an over-sized push button for easy access, and a drop point style blade in a black finish. Finally, the deep carry pocket clip is designed for tip up carry only and was slightly shortened to provide quicker access when you need it now.

*Please note that the seals on the box will arrive broken due to the knife being converted

    Excellent Budget Option That Delivers

Posted by RedRaider on Feb 27th 2019

After scouring the internet and researching different types of automatic knives the Boker Kalashnikov stood above all others. There is something to be said about receiving genuine value from a product and this one delivers. The knife not only feels great in the hand but is very well balanced, solid and gives the user a confident grip. I have medium to large hands and purchased the Boker Kalashnikov XL mainly because I have other knives in the size range of the original Boker Kalashnikov.

In use, the blade is easy to control and provides just the right amount of tactile feedback as you cut/slice into something. At times my hobbies require me to make precision cuts and this is an important quality. The pocket clip affords a deep carry which is ideal for me at the workplace.

Enough of the practical stuff, this knife is one of the best fidget gadgets out there! Fellow knife aficionados comment on how snappy the action is. I even had to pry it from someone's hands to get it back. I will tell you what I told him, "Let go, head to and get your own!" This is an excellent budget/entry level knife that give you real value. My experience with BladeOps thus far has been great.

Boker's Kalashnikov XL NOT a flea market switchblade knife

Posted by Uriah on Feb 6th 2019

I have had my Boker AK-74 XL auto for a week now. carried her everyday and have used it quite heavily. Keep in mind I have owned Benchmade's Axis autos, AFO2, and Infidel. If your looking for a real Tactical switchblade that you can trust with your life THIS IS NOT IT. You get what you pay for when it comes to switchblade knives for sure. However I do not think you will find a better quality switchblade knife at this price. After she arrived I lubed the pivot and plunge lock with some REMoil, checked that all the screws were tight, and quickly honed and stropped the blade. I was impressed with her lock up, no up/down play only slight side to side. She Feels solid in my hands, the handle is a bit slick but the well placed jimping helps achieve a solid grip. The handle to blade ratio is great, Boker packed as much blade into the handle as they could with the handle only being an inch longer than the blade. The plunge lock is placed for easy access and hard to disengage under use in regular or reverse grip with my medium sized hands. No safety No problem, the whole point of a switchblade is quick deployment and having a safety to disengage negates the point. I am not worried of her opening in my pocket accidentally. The pocket clip is a bit goofy, sticking out a bit too far asking to get caught on something. It works providing enough retention to not fall out of my pocket, however definitely could be improved on. The blade coating needs Improvement as well because a week of use and it is coming off already. If I were to get another I would get another blade finish. All things considered the Boker AK-74 XL makes a great EDC/Last ditch self defense switchblade knife. Not built well enough for first responders, quiet professionals, Military, and others who need a dependable switchblade knife. The Boker AK-74 XL is not a toy and not quite a reliable combat switchblade. A bargain at $40 for sure

This knife has great action, perfect amount of jimping, feels superb in the hand as well as sharp out of the box. I know these go through a " quality control " process & BladeOps nailed it. Thanks again folks keep it up...

    Boker XL Kalasnikov

I've just recieved my knife. The frame is tight. The blade opens lightening fast. I was surprised because of the XL blade size.
I've taken a few minutes as usual to sharpen my blade. I'm able to perform surgery if needed.
    Well worth the money.
