Benchmade first got their start in 1988 and began with just butterfly knives (hence the logo) before diving head first into automatic, spring assisted, folder, fixed blade and rescue tools arena. Offered in multiple sizes and handle configurations, this heftier model features a T-latch lock as well as next generation kicker pin technology which provides incredibly smooth action. Take it from us--this could quite possibly be the only balisong you ever need thanks to Benchmade's incredible tolerances and a semi-custom look without the heavy price tag. This Blue Class model, the 67, features skeletonized stainless steel handles, a recurve tanto style blade in a satin finish and black nylon sheath offers a velcro closure and contains a belt carry option. Made in the USA.

Benchmade 67 Bali-Song
Why the Benchmade 67? That is the real question you have to ask yourself when you are purchasing a high end butterfly knife. Why this knife versus the other? The Benchmade 67 fulfills several important demands that any high quality butterfly must. First, it is built from materials that can handle heavy duty use. What good is an expensive knife if it is going to fly apart with serious use? None. That is why Benchmade has built the 67 out of D2 tool steel. D2 is an air hardened tool steel which gives you great corrosion resistance, but most especially it gives you excellent wear resistance. It is one of the best choices you can make when it comes to hard use applications. Like a knife that you are going to be flipping. In my mind, D2 is one of the few choices that make sense when building a bali.
BLADE
The D2 recurve tanto blade gives this knife a unique look. The blade is going to keep a serious edge. If you plan on doing lots of cutting with it--it will do a great job. If you plan on just using it to flip--it has nice weight so your tricks will be smooth.
HANDLE
The handles on the 67 are machined stainless steel. The skeletonized look makes for proper weight. The holes also give you plenty of spots to grab hold of the handle--so regardless if you are an old pro that can whip your butterfly around at the speed of light or a brand new beginner, you will have plenty of places to grab hold of the 67. The handles lock together with a T-latch when you want to stash your 67.
OVERALL IMPRESSION
If you want a top notch balisong, a Benchmade is the obvious choice. With top quality manufacturing and the best of materials, each of the knives in their bali lineup meet the criteria of "best in show". So if you like the look of the Benchmade 67, step up and get yours. In nothing flat, you will be flipping with the pros.
