The Rakkasan is one of many new models released by CRKT this year and is one of several knives that are part of their Forged by War® series. Started in 2013 by Ryan Johnson of RMJ Tactical, this program teamed up with veterans with varying degrees of PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) to offer a unique opportunity to help design knives and tools that they feel would have been beneficial to them as well as their battle buddies. Designed by war veteran Austin McGlaun this tactical fixed blade is the Japanese translation of "umbrella for falling" after the World War II Paratroopers from the 187th Regiment. Each model sports a rugged and textured handle design complete with finger groove cutouts for a secure grip as well as a full-bellied blade to handle a plethora of tactical and utility scenarios. From the beginning, CRKT has been driven by a single purpose: to bring useful technological advancements and entirely new product concepts to today's market. This model, the 1520, features a black G-10 handle, a clip point style blade in a black finish and a black kydex sheath with included cord for multiple sheath mounting and carry options.
CRKT will donate 10% of the net profits of each Forged By War® product to the veteran designers charity of choice
