The Benchmade Volli spring assist knife is the latest Blue Class spring assist model to feature user-favorite CPM-S30V stainless steel. The black G-10 handles are aggressively textured to provide an extremely solid hold and the stainless steel liners promote extra durability and strength. The dual thumb stud design helps quickly deploy the blade which utilizes the Benchmade AXIS assist locking mechanism which has been praised for its virtually uncompromising and unwavering lock up. This model, the 1000001, features a satin finished blade, an integrated slide safety on the spine and the pocket clip is designed for tip up carry only but is eligible for left or right hand carry options. BLADE
The 3.26 S30V blade gives you all the cutting strength you need on a daily basis. CPM S30V steel is considered a premium grade knife steel that gives you all the performance of a stainless steel combined with easier sharpenability than other steels in the same class. Many experts feel that it is the ultimate in stainless steel metals. The Volli blade is drop point style and this version has a standard edge. This is the type of blade that can last a lifetime if properly cared for.
HANDLE
The handle on the Volli is black G-10. With loads of texture as well as contours that fit the hand like the proverbial glove, the handle gives you a solid grip even when things are wet and slippery. G-10 is a fiberglass based laminate that gives you maximum strength and minimal weight. The combination makes for a material on knives that are going to see serious work. Closed, the Volli measures in at 4.42". There is a groove on the handle near the blade that allows you to pinch the handle with your thumb and forefinger when you need to do some more precise style cutting work.
SAFETY AND FIRE BUTTON
The blade snaps open with a small push on the ambidextrous thumb stud. As soon as you start the blade, the AXIS-assist takes over and gets the blade open in a hurry. From there, the blade locks into place with the AXIS system. You can also use the secondary locking system found on the spine. The push and slide style safety locks the AXIS system and keeps the blade where you have it--if it is open, it keeps it open and if it is closed, it keeps the blade in the closed position. This is a solid system that provides the safety you need in an easy to use format. Just what you would expect from a Benchmade.
OVERALL IMPRESSION
I fully expect the Volli to be around for several years. This solid knife offering from the Benchmade Blue Line gives you everything you are looking for in a heavy use every day carry. It has solid construction, high quality materials, and the workmanship and craftmanship you expect and demand from a Benchmade. I give the Volli a solid A+.
