The Gerber Emerson Alliance automatic knife is great for three main reasons. First, the handle, made of textured T6 aluminum, give you a fantastic grip. The texturing isn't just all talk like with some knives. The handle also has a nice contoured shape for your hand to grab onto and hold onto. Second, the safety is ingenious and functional. Similar to the button safety on a lot of guns, this safety pushes down to release. You can then push the safety button back up from the back side of the handle and this locks the knife into an open position. To close the knife, you push the safety button back down and then you push the trigger button. This releases the blade so you can manually close the knife. From there, you push the safety back up from the backside and it is once again, closed and locked. It may sound like a lot, but it is very simple, very strong, and I love it. Third, the blade, made of 154CM stainless steel is sharp and will stay that way. This version has a plain black blade and I love the straight edge shape of the knife. This is a great automatic knife and one you should seriously consider for everyday carry or for your collection.
