This Microtech Zero Blade Play Ultratech Out the Front automatic knife features a contoured natural clear (gray) aluminum handle.
The drop point style blade has an apocalyptic finish. The blade is Bohler M390MK steel, this is Microtech's proprietary blade steel which has high carbon content for superb edge retention.
The knife also has an integrated glass breaker and a wide thumb slide that delivers smooth double action automatic open and close. The lock has a zero stop internal mechanism that eliminates all blade play. This Gen III model also has the dual fuel drivetrain that reduces the force necessary to open and close the knife. Additionally, it has the Crud Cutter, which reduces friction and breaks down lint and debris so they don't get inside the internals.
The ZBP Ultratech also has a machined titanium pocket clip with a silica carbide ball. The hardware on this model matches the gray handle color.
The Ultratech without question has been Microtech's flagship out the front auto knife since its induction in 1999. Recently it has gone through an additional aesthetic redesign after the overwhelming success and praise of the traditional styling. While the dimensions of the Ultratech remain unchanged, the handle has been stripped back down to its original roots--now offering a smooth contoured chassis, however still boasting the tri-angle hardware, a redesigned thumb slide and the glass breaker that now includes a press fitted ball bearing for a more comfortable, but still functional, user experience. Each Microtech OTF knife has extremely sophisticated internal mechanisms which improve the overall operational functionality and reliability.
