The SOG-TAC series is an invigorating new design that offers a fully functioning automatic knife with the added benefits of a slim profile. Specifically tailored for the tactical user, the blade deploys quickly and locks up with plenty of security. The black anodized aluminum handles were machined with insets for increased control and grip and there is an integrated slide safety on the back side of the knife that allows the blade to be locked in either the open or closed position. This smaller model, the ST-12, features a partly serrated clip point style blade in a black TiNi (Titanium Nitride) finish and the deep carry pocket clip is designed for tip up carry only but is eligible for left or right hand carry options.

SOG Mini SOG-TAC Automatic Knife, ST-12
Compact and slim, the Mini SOG-TAC side open auto knife sits comfortable in your hand, ready to cut, slice and pierce whatever put in its path. One of the ultra thin automatics that SOG has become well known for, it is only 3/8 thick, which makes it one of the thinnest auto knives you can find on the market. This particular model, the 12, has a combo edge drop point blade with a hardcased black TiNi finish.
BLADE
The upswept blade is plenty big for everyday heavy cuts as 3 long and .125 thick. The combo edge gives you an extra advantage when cutting straps, ropes, and belts. The serrations are extra aggressive to make quick work of heavy and thick material. Built of AUS-8 with a hardcase black TiNi finish, the blade stands up to some serious abuse. I carried the ST-13 (same knife with a tanto point instead of drop point) for several months and put it through some serious abuse. The finish doesnt really scratchat least I was never able to do so. The AUS-8 stainless is easy to sharpen, keeps a good edge, and has great corrosion resistance. Along the spine of the blade there is 1 1/8 of very fine toothed jimping. This gives your thumb a comfortable spot to control fine cuts with as well as helping you keep a solid grip when making heavy piercing cuts.
The trigger sits on the front of the handle and when depressed fires the blade lightning fast. Lock up is solid. There is absolutely no play from side to side or forward and back.
A slide safety sits on the back of the handle and keeps the blade locked open or closed. It is secure. In over four months of carrying the ST-13, I never had one single misfireor any other style mishap.
HANDLE
The anodized 6061 T-6 black aluminum handles is one of my favorites of all time.It has individual finger grooves for each of your four fingers that arent crazy deep yet youre your hand a very secure grip.The grip works equally well whether you hold the knife in the traditional forward grip or in a reverse grip.Across the face of the front scale are several machined patterns as well as a machined SOG.A lanyard hole sits at the base of the handle.The deep carry, reversible bayonet style clip is perfect for discreet carry.A true deep carry, the clip actually extends 1/8 beyond the butt of the handle.A slide safety sits on the back handle scale.
OVERALL IMPRESSION
The knife weighs just 2.5 ounces.This is the kind of knife that begs to be pocket carried and is perfect for heavy use on a daily basis.The knife looks fantastic, has incredibly fast action and is built from top of the line materials so you know it is going to last a long, long time.I heartily recommend this auto knife to anyone looking for a small to mid sized auto for pocket carry.Also would be great as a backup carry for LE or Military.
