Benchmade 484 Nakamura AXIS Folder Knife Review
Posted by admin on Mar 30th 2014
The Benchmade 484 Nakamura AXIS folder is new for 2014. It brings the best of two worlds into one incredible knife. The detailed design from Nakamura features comfortably contoured black G10 handle scales on stainless steel liners. Add in the modified drop point M390 super premium stainless steel blade and you have a knife that is certain to get every cut done with precision and ease.
The blade on the 484 opens smooth with either of the thumb studs. The modified drop point blade has a bit of a clip point style to the top edge and features an elevated thumb ramp with jimping so you can make precision slicing and chopping cuts with ease and maximum control. The M390 blade is a high performance blade steel that ranks excellent for cutting ability and wear resistance. This is because it has a high concentration of vanadium and chromium carbides. The production process ensures a uniform carbide distribution throughout the steel. It offers extremely high corrosion resistance. All of this means that with the 484 you have a knife that is going to be performing for decades.
The blade locks open with the fantastic Benchmade AXIS locking system. If you haven’t used one of these before–you really need to get a knife with this system. It is dependable, solid and easy to use.
The handle has three crosswise grooves across the width of the handle that give your hand plenty of traction points however you are holding the knife. Each of the grooves corresponds to one of the finger grooves along the front edge of the handle allowing you to grip the knife in a very comfortable position as well as ensuring that the knife isn’t going to slip when you are making heavy cuts.
The removable tip up pocket clip is reversible right and left. It is a split arrow style.
If you are looking for a high quality folder that is going to be perfect for your pocket and even more perfect when the need for making some cuts arises–the Benchmade 484 Nakamura is sure to be for you. It has the best materials around and the construction and assembly is exactly what you would expect from Benchmade–top notch. And with the M390 blade it is the kind of knife that will be treasured for generations.
