Schrade 4 Assist Knife Review
Posted by admin on Feb 25th 2014
On the hunt for a great every day carry assist knife? The brand new 4 series from Schrade may just be what you are searching for. Built for real life, the Schrade assist knives are constructed with top quality materials.
This knife features a textured aluminum handle that has a slight overall curve that fits the hand like the proverbial glove. The inside curve boasts three finger grooves that gives your hand serious gripping power. Jimping in three locations give maximum traction whether you are slicing, thrusting or making fine cuts. Rubberized inlays on both top and bottom scale give the knife a sleek look but even more importantly add more grip to an already secure feeling knife. The inlay can be found in black or grey. Tip down, removable pocket clip. A lanyard hole allows for alternate carry.
A slide safety on the top scale is positioned perfectly for your thumb to slip down and activate or deactivate. When “live”, the safety shows a red dot so you know it is ready to open. Once open, you can use this slide safety to add an additional layer of blade security to a solid linerlock.
The knife is available with a tanto or drop point blade. The drop point came out last year, tantos are new for this year. A finger actuator makes blade activation easy and fast. Just use your forefinger to pull the actuator, and the blade snaps out with authority. Ambidextrous thumb studs can also be used to open the blade should you prefer that route. The stainless steel blade has a black finish. It also has a crosshatch pattern on the upper half of the blade on both sides. The pattern adds some panache as well as some extra traction if you are using the blade in a pinch grip doing extra fine cuts.
The Schrade 4 Assist knives have proven to be durable beasts that are perfect for every day carry. With a price tag around $40–they don’t take a huge bite out of your wallet.
