The Infidel Knife by Benchmade Knife Company

The Infidel Knife, by Benchmade Knife Company, is a double action, out the front automatic knife that has been delighting customers for several years. Built as part of the Black Class line that provides tools where life and death can hang in the balance, the Infidel is available as a dagger blade with either a bead blast or BK1 black tactical finish.  It is also produced in a smaller size named the Mini Infidel.

The blade is 3.91″ of D2 tool steel.  D2 tool steel is an air hardened steel which gives good corrosion resistance and excels in wear resistance.  Your Infidel blade should last a lifetime or two with proper care.  It is a great choice for a tactical knife where the use will be heavy and you need a product that will perform under the toughest of circumstances.

The machined handle is 6061 T-6 aluminum with black anodization.  The front side of the handle has an aggressive texture that gives your hand and extremely solid grip.  Built in finger grooves–or some would call them thumb indents–give your hand a perfect grip when you hold the knife in the classic saber style grip with your thumb on the spine of the handle and your fingers crossing the lower side of the handle.  For cutting chores, the saber grip gives you nice control over the knife.  For tactical use, the saber grip allows you to keep maximum distance between you and an opponent as well as giving you solid slashing power.

The slide trigger is big and bold.  It is easy to find with your thumb whether in full light, full dark or anywhere in between.  Just push or pull the slide (you need to move it about 1/2″ before it actuates) and the blade snaps out or closes with some serious authority.  The 1/2″ – 3/4″ required travel before the springs actuate makes it so you won’t accidentally fire the Infidel.  Driven by two coil springs, the blade springs aren’t under tension until you begin the process of opening or closing the blade.  An extremely reliable system, this OTF knife is certain to do what you want, when you want it to.
