Designer Ryan Johnson of RMJ Tactical, who stems from Chattanooga, Tennessee, goes well-beyond just making knives by actually studying the cultural and historical significance behind each and every one. The KUK, stemming from kukri, was modeled after the Nepalese machete which is equally effective for chopping and slashing because the blade angle keeps the wrist static versus a traditional straight blade. Additionally, the choice to use carbon steel over a stainless steel allows for extra blade flex--further increasing its outdoors versatility. From the beginning, CRKT has been driven by a single purpose: to bring useful technological advancements and entirely new product concepts to today's market. This model, the 2742, features a black thermoplastic and polypropylene handle, a kukri style blade in a black powder coated finish and the black polyester sheath, featuring dual security straps, allows for multiple carry options.
