Gerber's newest automatic knife series, the D.M.F, or Dual Multi Function, is an ambidextrous friendly automatic opening system that opens with a simultaneous pull on the dual tab design. The rugged G-10 handle was purposefully designed to give you maximum traction in any grip position thanks to the integrated finger grooves and precisely placed jimping patterns. The spine of the knife houses an elongated slide safety that also includes a coarse jimping design that even doubles as a thumb ramp. The base of the knife also showcases a pommel with a strike point that can easily function as a glass breaker or self defense tool. This D.M.F auto features a partly serrated tanto blade comprised of premium CPM-S30V stainless steel in a black finish and the pocket clip is designed for tip up carry only but is eligible for left or right hand carry options. Finally, this knife also includes a black nylon sheath with a velcro closure system and an integrated belt loop carry design. Made in the USA.

Not only does Gerber's newest automatic knife, the DMF, have my favorite style of automatic opener--very similar to SOG's Arc-Lock system or Benchmade's Auto-Axis system, the DMF automatic knife is made for action. This sturdy knife has a built in pommel strike that is an integral part of the tang so it gets the job done when you need to use the base of the handle as a strike point. Think breaking glass to escape or using it as another defense point. Gerber made the handles of their newest automatic knife from G-10 to give it strength but not too much weight. I really like how this knife feels in my hand. It is easy to open from either side (good news for left handed users) and the oversized spine safety is simple to trigger but not easy to accidently trigger. You push it into the knife and then slide it down. The big and beefy DMF automatic knife by Gerber gets high points from me for the attention to detail, the quality of materials, and the ease of use. This is just the kind of knife I want with me when the going gets tough.
