The Malt is one of many new spring assisted models released by Kershaw this year. Designed by award-winning custom knifemaker Gustavo Cecchini, this frame lock designed model features Kershaw's patented SpeedSafe™ system which quickly deploys the blade via the ambidextrous flipper function. Gustavo, who collaborated with Zero Tolerance this year as well, brings elements of his custom work into the solid performance that Kershaw is well versed in. For starters, the spine flippers unique shape is because it doubles as a bottle opener and the two-toned nature of both the handle and the blade consist of striking lines and angles that will keep you staring. Furthermore, as the larger of the two Kershaw models GTC assisted with, this blue accent can also be found on the protruding backspacer. This model, the 5520, features a two-toned silver and dark grey stainless steel handle, a modified tanto style blade in a two-toned dark grey finish with satin highlights and the polished blue pocket clip is statically designed for tip up carry only on the traditional side of the handle.
