Description

Designed by Nicholas Fury III of L.V.I. Bushcraft & Survival Inc., this knife is a product of more than 30 years of experience in traveling the world. Historically, the kukuri is both a tool as well as a weapon, however the design of this particular model boasts a deeper sweeping belly which means it needs less overall length but still provides tremendous chopping power. Each full tang design model sports great ergonomics and a nice thumb ramp for support. This model features black linen micarta handles, a kukri style blade in a black traction coating. Made in the USA.

Overall the knife is very nice. Very thick, should be easy to chop with because of the weight due to the thickness. The pommel is robust, as the tang is full thickness. I've got a pretty large hand, XXL gloves, and the scales are adequate (just) for me. While I would prefer something a bit more beefy in the grip, I think most folks, with medium to large (not my hamfists) would find the grip excellent. I find the full thickness finger guard nice, as its not just a bit of scale material but part of the tang. I do have some quibbles, first being the knife, was exactly the sharpest blade I've ever seen. The bevels look coarse ground and I had a hard time fine shaving some kindling for my firepit. The kindling was just pine fatwood, not particularly tough stuff. It would split the fatwood fine, but trying to get little curly bits for kindling took a bit of effort. Next quibble is the sheath. I got a kydex sheath with a wing/ring/loop arrangement. Good as a protector for the knife. That's it. Abysmal for use in the field. They advertise, and show, a nice nylon MOLLE sheath, which appears to allow belt carry and withdrawal. For me, I can sharpen this blade easily, so no biggie there, but the sheath makes it a 4 star, not 5.
